Alexis is a dedicated and compassionate counselor with 9 years of experience working in the mental health field. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Maryland and Virginia with a passion for working with individuals and groups, assisting with personal growth while promoting positive mental health and recovery.
Alexis obtained her B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh and her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Abilene Christian University. Alexis specializes in serving adolescents and adults struggling with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, self-esteem, behavioral issues, trauma, interpersonal issues, self-harm, anger management, stress, grief, and more. Alexis’s authentic and down-to-earth personality aids in the development of therapeutic trust and alliance and encourages person-centered care.
Alexis has a specialized knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity and the importance of multicultural competence in developing and fostering a healthy therapeutic relationships. She expresses a desire to serve the underserved and underrepresented. Alexis has used her research to target these populations in order to mitigate the heightened mental health stigma within these communities, to increase self-awareness and self-efficacy, and to improve their ability to navigate stressors amidst increasing challenges and obstacles.
Outside of her commitments to her clients and the counseling profession, Alexis is a Navy wife and a mother of four. When not working, Alexis likes to spend her time with family, hiking, and baking. She is an avid DIYer, Pinterest-addicted, outdoorsy, adventure seeker.
